ImagineByAstra Takes Sustainability Seriously

Around 85% of all textiles produced by the fashion industry end up in landfills making it a major contributor to environmental damage. What’s more, one in every five items produced by the fashion industry reaches landfills without being worn even once. 

In contrast ImagineByAstra only produces what a customer orders thereby preventing unnecessary waste. Our manufacturers also use some of the most efficient machines in the industry producing near zero water waste while utilizing fabrics and dyes with high safety ratings.

What’s more, we use recycled polyester (rPET for short) vs traditional polyester in as many products as possible. Producing rPET takes 33% to 53% less energy than creating polyester from scratch. Also, rPET produces approximately 54.6% fewer CO2 emissions to the air than virgin polyester. Recycled polyester is produced by recycling existing materials (like plastic bottles and packaging) but still has all the characteristics and performance as a traditional polyester. Recycled polyester keeps plastic out of the landfills and oceans. 

By utilizing fabrics such as REPREVE, the world’s leading brand of recycled performance fiber, and LYCRA XTRALIFE, clothing is not only environmentally friendly but lasts up to 10x longer, giving more wears which also means less waste in landfills. 

Most of our fabric waste and scraps created during production are recycled. In addition, returns that cannot be resold are donated to local charities. We aim to close the loop in sustainably wherever possible.

Packaging

We use recycled plastic for our packaging whenever possible. Our recycled packaging is made from recycling post consumer items such as shopping bags and wrapping films.
